I just rebuilt the ipr..and have replaced the injector o rings..my problem is, there is oil inside the fuel system..I first noticed it in the fuel filter...what I'd like to know, is how the oil getting INTO the fuel system?? Also, truck will not start now, unless it gets a shot of starting fluid..but then it runs fine..could that be bad fuel pump??? Thanks for any help..truck is starting to annoy me..I dont just wanna run ***** nilly replacing this and that, spendin a ton of money until I finally stumble onto the problem. I'm thinkin bad fuel pump for the starting issue, but am at a loss for the oil in fuel system..could they be related??
If you haven't run the truck down the road for 20-50 miles after the IPR work it will start hard due to air in the system. Runit hard for 20-30 miles and see what happens. Also the oil in fuel is probably injector o-rings which if bad enough could also cause your hard start issue as well.
We just replaced the injector o rings late last fall..would they be bad ALREADY??? If so, what would cause them to go out in just a matter of 6 months?? Took the truck out tonite after the ipr work was done, had to use startin fluid, drove it about 45-50 miles and still wouldn't start after shut off..if you try to restart within 5 seconds, it'll start..any longer and no start...was told it was the glow plugs, but to me, it just seems like it isn't gettin any fuel.
Sounds like a similar issue that i was just having with my truck, just i hadn't done any IPR work. I replaced the fuel pump and changed the rubber o-ring on the top of the fuel bowl and it starts fine. Just something to think about.
You guys are great..thanks for the advice..I was leaning towards a faulty fuel pump..it was acting up BEFORE we did the ipr work..as far as the oil/fuel issue..it seems to be going thru more oil lately..it was going thru a truck load before changing the o rings, after that was done, didn't use a drop..now it seems like it's using it again..altho not as much as before..will try the fuel pump and see if that helps with the starting problem..thanks again guys!!!
