Question About Installing Power Locks

Ok, im going to put power locks in my 2004 STX, I have a question about the wiring, im going to wire the locks right to a Ford keyless entry kit. So the lock actuators have two wires, and the wires polarity needs to be switched for the lock acutuator to go from lock and unlock. The keyless entry just has a positive output for the lock and unlock. How do i go about doing this? To get the polarity to switch? Thanks!

i would think that if you hooked up both of the keyless entry wires to a seperate relay, you could use them to trigger the specific leg of the actuator to either lock, or unlock. and, this way the opposite leg of the actuator would get the ground from the relay that isnt being triggered by the keyless entry. without looking at a relay in front of me, i think your 2 wires from the actuators should go to the 87A poles of the relays. this will give only 1 positive at a time, and the relay that isnt being triggered should then keep a ground to the opposite leg of the actuator. i hope i didnt confuse ya too much there.

No, no confusion, i understand what your saying. Ive used relays before for lights and stuff but not 2 on one peice of equipment, and used it that way. I guess i just need to see it in front of me. Anyone want to give me a layout for it a picture or drawing of the wiring situation? Thanks!

if you just run the keyless entry wires to the normally open contacts of the relays, and then run the actuator wires to the "output" contacts of the relays, you can run the other side of the relay to ground. just be sure to hook the ground to the normally closed contacts of the relays. then, when the keyless entry sends a positive signal to one of the relays, that relay will switch contacts inside, and join the "output" to the incoming positive signal. the other relay will remain open, providing a ground to the actuator. and, then when you push the oposite buton on the keyless entry, everything thing will happen to the other side of the circuit, and that is essentially your reverse polarity.

ok, im getting it, still if anyone would have time to draw something or give a list of the relay numbers and where the wires would go that would be greatly appreciated, no rush, not doing this for a couple days.
