You know getting the right part for our trucks/car just gets harder. When I needed a new transmission mount for my truck the replacement was about a 1/4" shorter in height. Because of that I changed to angle at the center bearing causing a conflict. At least here I was able to make a shim to lower the center bearing and line it up with the tranny.
Now I needed to replace the mount in my 67 Parklane which is just like a Galaxie. This mount is 3/4" shorter than the one in there. I myself checked around and found many places that said the Anchor #2242 was correct. Now this lowers the front of the drive line by the 3/4" and makes me wonder what the end result could be? The same thing happened with the u-joints. The books showed them to have an axis length of 3.25" when I had ones with 3.625" on both ends. People said it was modified and I said I don't think the original 83 year old owner was into that on a luxury car back then. Yet that is solved but what to do about that new tranny mount as the old is broken?
Will say that making a steel shim at 3/4" would be one hell of a thing to drill holes through...
