i know a lot about my truck and such but im a little weak when it comes to electrical stuff. i just bought a new sony x-plod head unit and i was wondering exactly how i get to my stock one to take it out. i have tried to take my dash off but that was a nightmare. i have a 93 F-150 and if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure your 93 has the same dash as my 95, and if it is, removing the radio is very easy, it takes about 5 minutes and you don't have to take anything apart, but there's a trick to it. When you look at the factory radio you will see 2 small holes on each end, one on top and one on bottom. Take an old coat hanger and cut 2 8-inch pieces out of it. Next bend each piece into a horseshoe, and insert the U-shaped pieces into the hole pairs on the deck ends. You may have to push pretty hard to get them in there. Now you need to push the two pieces away from each other and pull out on them at the same time. This releases the little tabs that secure the deck, and it should slide out. When I did mine I had to get one side loose and then the other, and it was kind of a pain. However, it was really easy compared a lot of GM products which require the dash disassembly. Then again most GM vehicle have a deck that doesnt need to be replaced cuz it performs better than mid priced aftermarket units 
i replaced mine anyway and to remove the dash it took 1 screw and just pull it off gently its just held on with spring clips, not bad at all
