I have added a keypad to my '05 XLT following various posts on here and other 150 sites. I have the code from the box behind the rear seat. However, the keypad doesn't work. Pushing a key is supposed to cause the keypad to light up (it doesn't) and turn on the inside light (it doesn't). The only Ford dealer in town wants $100 to "fix" it. Is there anything else I can check before spending the money?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
sorry to hear its not working. when i plugged mine in, it worked right away. it sounds like you might have to have your pcm reflashed, and thats why the dealer wants a sea note. how long has it been plugged in? i know that when you enter an incorrect code too many times, it will "lock itself out". have you tried unplugging and then plugging it back in? let us know how it turns out.
Matt- it's been plugged in over two weeks. I've never tried more than 2 or 3 times at once. So, I don't think it locked out. The keypad on my wife's Explorer lights up as soon as I press a key -- mine doesn't. I'm trying to exhaust all possibilities before dropping the cash . . thanks for the reply!
i would first try to unplug it, and then plug it back in.... also, check the plug to see if your getting any power..... it has to be tied into one of the fuses i would think.
