Question Automatic Bronco Question

Hello, I am currently on the Market for a lifted Ford Bronco, and I have talked to a lot of people about them. Most of the ones I have seen on the market are automatic, and only a rare few are manual. So my question is simple:

Since most are around 100,000 Miles, is it worth sacrificing some of the cooler Automatics and only looking at manuals? Should I worry about the transmission? Has anyone had any experience with automatic Broncos whose transmissions die after the 100,000 mile point? Should I only be looking at Manuals, or do the transmissions in automatics live long after the 100,000 mile mark?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Ill post the links to two Broncos I am currently looking at.

The Automatic (the one I like most)
The Manual (Still pretty cool)

Personal experience. Bought my 94 from travelling sales lady who bought it new. She got the E4OD transmission upgrade recall the first year. I recently changed fluid/filter myself at 182K miles and it is still going strong. If you consider one with an E4OD ask about the recall if 94 or older.

If that 1994 is anything close to the description it's a bargain.

Transmission choice is a personal one. I believe an automatic will live longer than a standard. I know I will get some arguments on this, But I also think a auto is better for off road. I've had Scouts with both. When I moved up to Broncos, I only looked at autos.

One other thing. If you get an auto and big tires, change the diff gears. If not, dont blame the trans when it fails. (auto or standard)

If you are looking at the auto with the e4od(it will have an electronic o/d button) I would make sure it has all the updates, if not you will most likely be putting another 2K into a tranny rebuild not long after you buy it depending on miles. The AOD(overdrive through moving the shifter) and the three speed c-6 are other options depending on years. They are both cheaper to re-build and in my opinion the c-6 is the strongest out of the three. Make sure the fluids are clean and not burnt smelling. Yeah, I would make sure it has had gears done as well, or else that tranny will be toast in not too long.
