I have been looking around for a new turbo for the last while and while I really want to get an HX50 I don't seem to have very good luck with it. I just got outbid on Ebay by $5 for one today! How come no one is running an HX40 or a H1E? Are they just too small for what we need? Oh and do any of you know of a place to get an HX50 for less than around $500-700 or do I just have to keep waiting for another one to show up on Ebay? Thanks
Have you tried Ron's Turboservice? You've probably seen him on ebay. Don't know if he carries the HX50 but worth a try.
Ron doesn't have any HX50 stuff unless he has changed something in the last 3 months. I was hoping he would have a rebuild kit for my HX but he didn't.
The HX40 and H1 turbo's are smaller but they might be larger than our turbo's. I don't really know. I know the HX35 is too small. The HX40 is an upgrade for the Cummins, but not much of one.
Yep, the HX40 is slightly larger than the 35. The problem is that the housing is two small for our trucks. Those two extra cylinders make a big difference.
What about find a schwitzer? Maybe a S400 or S600?
I think the high output cummins use the 40.
You just got to keep looking. I took me about three months to find one.
Ic... that's what I was afraid of. Those two extra cylinders can be a real pain when a guy is looking for turbos. And ya I have been looking for Schwitzers and the like. I actually found a 2001 H2E that was on a Pontiac 400 for a while but it doesn't look like it is in the best condition... the compressor wheel looks like it has some corrosion or something on it (can't really tell in the pictures) so I'm not sure I want to go for it. I guess I could just get it and rebuild it and still be under new cost but all that takes time.
