To start with I am a new member but I have been reading this forum for quite sometime. I have an 05 f350 with 61,000 mi on it and the head gaskets are blown again. The first time they were replaced under warranty by my dealer who also installed ARP studs I provided. This time I took the truck in again for puking while towing my camper 15,000 fully loaded and the tech diagnosed it as head gaskets again. Ford sent a rep out to inspected my vehicle and he denied warranty due to aftermarket air filter(AFE),exhaust (MBRP), studs (ARP) and download (SCT that was set back to stock prior to taking the truck in).
Is this engine worth doing head gaskets again or should i go with fire ringed heads or just get rid of it?
Welcome to the boards. I would say that the reason that the head gaskets went bad again is due to the heads being warped. I think that there are many people that have used the updated Ford kit with much sucess.
There are some more experoinced pwople on here that have had the same issue as you. Also what tune are you running when you puked. I guess I am not suprised to hear that they denied your claim...but I think they should do some more research into it instead of just denying it.
Seems to me that you may have a little bit of a leg to stand on especially since its been done once before. Maybe the dealer will do a 50/50 split. I know that there are things they can do to make you happy...been there.
I am not so sure on the fire ring questions so hold on someone will be along soon to answer that. Just so you know there is a ton of info in the tech. folder.
When they blew the first time, did the tech machine or replace the heads? If they didnt, then you exposed a warped or cracked head that should have been machined or replaced. From what i have gathered from this site is that if the heads are true and ARP's are installed, you shouldnt have anymore issues unless you are pumping some serious numbers with your 6.0L.
Sounds to me like they weren't machined or replaced with flat heads. Either of those scenerios would have led to blown heads regardless of the ARP studs. As far as regular gaskets or fire ringed. With everything in my siggy, I'm running stock gaskets and I have zero puking problems *knocking on wood* as of right now, so I don't think you'll need to go that far, but I would make sure that the heads are double checked for sure now as I'm willing to bet it was a lack of proper work on the heads or installation error. One good thing to note is that atleast you'll be able to reuse the ARP studs, I know small consolation, but atleast it's something.

If thats the case, depending on milege/time, maybe wkat41 will qualify for the shotty craftmanship warranty from the shop not doing it right the first time?

Well the dealership might try run a flim flam on him because the studs weren't factory OEM bolts. It is a stretch, but with everyone trying to get all that they can, I wouldn't be surprised at that.
Ford does not allow head machining since there is almost a (0) tolerance for warpage in the book. They most likely are warped and possibly the block is a well. There are some other options that Ford can take if you dealership pushes hard enough, it s called a P01,P05,P07 and you can only use them one time. But since you had a tuner they might not go for it since IH keeps kicking back claims to Ford for warranting things that are not their fault or design issue.. the problem was never really fixed and you do max out you trucks towing capabilities..get some new heads and get em installed..$$$$$$

Once the Ford rep saw the tuner and head studs you were and probably still are doomed. I doubt that the dealer will eat it, especially in this economy. They are probably hurting like most other dealerships.
Thanks for the welcomeand the info.
Yes, both heads were changed the first time due to warpage. So you guys think they could have put a warped head or heads on.
Also I was running a custom heavy tow tune from one of the sponsers here.
