I have a pioneer 50X4 CD player with 2 pioneer 180 watt max, 3 way 6 1/2's and 2 pioneer 260 watt max, 4 way 6x9's. Where should I go from here for the best sound I can get from my system? Anyone have any ideas? thanks.
I hate to be mean, but if you want good sound, sell your speakers and go buy a pair of JL Audio, or other quality speakers. You will never have anything but muddy sound with those high power demand speakers on a stock amp! You need efficient speakers (100 watt max).
I order to have all your 6X9's running and sounding their best you are going to need external amplifiers. The amp in the deck is not strong enough to run those speakers well. You could still hook the speakers up to your deck, and it might not even sound that bad, but the numbers speak for themselves. Your deck is 50 watts per channel. I beleive the 50 watts is max at 14.4 volts. Your stereo will most likely never actually get 50 watts to each channel. My 2 cents is to get a couple of 2 channel amps, or a big four channel and run them that way.
I would try to find an amp that will run 4 channels between 75 and 100 watts per channel. You could go with a smaller amp than that and bridge one or both sides. You are probly looking at spending a little bit of money on this.
