I have some three way pioneer speakers (120 watts max) front and back that are fairly new and I have a pioneer mp3 player (P4600MP) that is new. I put the volume up to 13 and it sounds ok. I put the eq on super bass and it sucks. I'm not planning on getting a sub (due to being topless) but I do want a little better sound. I guess my three inch exhaust isn't helping either but will a little boost in power by an amp help me with bass without getting a sub? If i do not plan on fading the music between front and rear will a 2 channel be better then a 4 channel? Whats a good not expensive (~$100) amp that is good? thanks.
I dont think adding a seperate power amp to your system is going to help to much--I would look more to the speaker end of things--If your were to make some sort of enclosures for your speakers they would likely better produce bass notes--the only other thing is using larger speakers or subwoofers
The head unit you have should power your speakers adequately

Insulate the crap outta your truck using dynamat, or fiberglass insulation where you can, like I did. That will help with better sound, and then make sure that everything is tighly mounted. If that doesn't help, I would say the speakers are shot. An amp will help with the sound quality, and it will help eliminate distortion because it puts more power to the speaker. Distortion is what kills speakers, so if you want it loud, get an amp.
