I have a 1989 Ford Ranger regular cab and I was wondering what, if any subwoofers I could fit in it without having to move the seat up too much. Also, what would be better for the doors: 5 1/4 or 6 1/2?
With the small size of a ranger's interior you could rpobly go with 8's or 10's behind the seat. Unless you are a bass junkie these subs should do more than enough. You could either buy boxes from an audio shop, or build your own. I am not positive, but a company like JL might even make a stealth box for a ranger, but yours may be too old. For the best sound in the door I would go with seperate components. These cost much more, but improve sound greatly. If you don't want to go that route, go with a nice pair of 6 1/2"'s
Hi
You could also go with a Bass Engine . This is the same basic idea as a speaker but rather than a paper cone it has a heavy steal plate .They are very small and don't need box volume. You would just mount it to a small piece of plywood and mount the plywood to the back wall of your truck. It turns your cab into a sub. They work pretty good in a truck. I have a set in my sofa and you would be amazed.

JL makes a power wedge box that you could use in the ranger there are also many other small wedge truck boxes out there , i would say go with tens as most 8's cant accurately reproduce very low frequencies, and like he said a component set would be the best sounding but run a bit higher , do you prefer any brands ? i mean right now your selection is so broad its unbelieveable, just remember when shopping "you get what you pay for"
I bought a truck box for my 10-inch Rockford sub, only to find out that the Ranger is still too small for it. (At least the Regular Cab is) This is what I would recommend:
