I've read thru the Tech folder about doing the High Idle mod. This is definantly a Mod that I want to do to my 04, however with it being a Manual, I cant just connect the two wires.
Whats going to be the best route to bump up the idle??
I have a stick. I did this mod its works no problem. I use one of the up-lifter switches. !2v to the blue white wire is what I am sure I did... I can look-- but it will work
Well the reason for my above post.. is that If you follow the link in the 6.0L forum, using the two wires and a 12v switch.. at the very bottom of the page, and indeed in the Upfitters guide, it says NOT to apply power to those if using a manual, that I'd need the Idle Control box from ford..
Heres the How To article I was referring to: High Idle Mod
Yes, I read that- however mine does work, I dont have the box. I just used the PTO orange wire to uplifter switch #3. Sure dont under stand that doc saying it wont work. Try it?
why do you want the high idle mod. if you are running something from your PTO it might nice to be able to control your idle a little more with the idle control box from Ford. I have idle control wired to my upfitter switch and use it for preventing wetstacking when i let my truck idle to cool the turbo after pulling a trailer. its a great little mod
