Carb and Intake Replacement

Carb and Intake Replacement
I recently put a 351W from an 85 Bronco into my 80 F100. I removed all the emissions and the truck runs ok. Over the weekend I discovered that the carb is leaking gas in the back on to the intake. Its a Holley 4BBL 4180, after a little reading on here I found they are prone to leaking and best if replaced. I am thinking of going with an edelbrock performer intake and 1406 carb. The problem is I have never tried this before. The things I am concerned with are pulling the distributor because I haven't set timing before and adjusting the carb. Does anyone know the steps for replacing the intake as well? I would like to try this myself if I can get all my questions answered. Thanks for any input you may have.

The edelbrock set up is perfect for your truck. if you want a little more torque though go with the performer rpm. as far as replacing the intake you will have to take the carb off and any lines. And make sure not to get anything in the engine, then take the intake bolts out and remove the intake. I highly recommend Felpro intake gaskets part # 1250. these are the best gaskets for the aluminum intake. You may want to get help from sombody who knows about carbs for proper tuning.
