Kevin - mine didn't leak, because there weren't ANY fluids in it to begin with, grease was solid, etc, etc.
I think if I had done what I started to do, "just" get it running, I never would have gotten this far. Plus, most of my time might have been spent just "fixing" the stuff that was bad from PO's, and NEVER had a "complete" truck. When I'm done, mine will be 95% "new". Everything will have been addressed. A lot of time (and money!) but still less than a new truck, and a heckuva lot more class!! But, it would be nice to be driving one, while I'm working on this one. Well, if it weren't for the $4.20 gas!! The Saturn will do nicely, until this one IS done...

I'm right there with you on the no fluids. When I bought my truck everything leaked so bad there wasn't anything left to leak out.
As for the 4.20 gas, I ordered a Mini Cooper on Saturday.
I have the Fenton 2X2 in the swap area now...$250 with the genny mount and fuel pump...all polished, in great shape - studs need replaced, but that's pretty much standard (dissimilar metals).
I hear ya about the contractors! I'd hate to do that, they work their butts off! And long hours to boot...

I'm not sure, from the paperwork, when mine was on the road last - it could have been either 1973, or 1991...probably some place in between. Of course, it didn't help that the oil pan was off, and being used to hold all the nuts and bolts from the truck, along with a gallon of water or so...
Friend was telling me his neighbor just bought two high-dollar scooters ($5,000 each!) to ride back and forth the two miles to work, the 8 months a year we can ride them. He figured it would take just over 300 years for the gas savings to justify the scooters! Heck, two miles?? I'd just walk! Plus, I can walk in the snow, a lot easier than I can ride a scooter...
What kind of mileage do the Cooper's get? I would probably buy an old 60's Super Cooper...yeah, like I NEED another project!!
I was going to just get my '36 running "as-is", but wanted to pull the SBC from it and run a 5.0/AOD...so, picked up a lowmilage Cougar for the engine/tranny swap, but the 5.0 wouldn't fit well in the old chassis without hacking up the firewall, decided to switch the traverse front end to a Heidts to gain some room to drop the engine down, then said heck, while everything is aprt, may as pull out the old X-chaiiss and box the frame..then decided a tri-4 bar would give a better ride then the Parallel leafs that were under the truck...so about 4 grand later I have an IFS, Currie narrowed 9inch with Tri 4bar, boxed frame, and still don't have the engine mounted yet.

been having trouble with people , what do ya call it spamming or whatever on some of the other sites and thats what this looks like . they register themselves then slap this goofy crap up you cant understand . ol skool and car talk kicked 'em off to cure it . if they are legit they'd contact the mods . and mike yours , rogers and some of the others and my past experiences are what i want to avoid . it's easier to justify and convince the " banker " you need the money and your time to do things if it actually moves under it's own power and resembles something other than an indistinguishable pile of parts .
