Hello,
I live in Key west Florida and was wondering what the limits on operating a vehicle on the road with only one mirror. (the Drivers side Mirror)
I saw some info that the older trucks only came with a left hand mirror and was wondering If I could get away with that.
I have a 1970 F100 and the glove box lid says Explorer.
and the dore mirrors are of the west coast camper special type.
these are huge mirrors and I am doing a rolling restoration / customize job on my truck and was wondering if I can get away with getting rid of the huge mirrors and installing one left hand side small mirror and still be street legal in Florida...?
I have asked arround and talked to cops and looked online with no real answer.
i dont know about Florida but in Cali if you have the review miror in the cab you dont need the passenger one and vis versa. and that i belive goes for ANY car. i could be wrong but i think all you need is the drivers and one of the other 2. how much do you really care about being street legal? i know for a fact that my truck has about 4 or 5 things that can be ticketed for, but do i change them? nope whty because i like them like that. but i only drive my truck about 2 or 3 thousand miles a year so... also on older cars most cops wont give you a ticket they just say fix it. Now do you guys have to get an inspection on the older cars? becasue even when i bought my truck not a single perosn even looked at! and i dont have any inspection or tests because its older. what did the cops say?
If you are ever going to have anything in the bed that blocks your vision, you need the right hand mirror. I'd put matching mirrors on as I use the RH all the time now that I've had them for years.
the cops where like if it is equiped with it then it has to have it.
they are just covering their but...
and they dont understand that some people make art on a canvas and then there are people like us that make art on four wheels.
what I was thinking was, I wanted to take the mirrors off of my doors and smooth the doors all up and then put a small antique type sport mirror just aft of the hood and before the drivers side door.
I sometimes tow my boat to the dock but it is small and easy to see behind.
and the only other thing in my bed is either girls or my motorcycle. and it is never often enuph either one is in my bed so Im covered there. ha ha...
