The 'Star pulled through again!

yuuuuuuuup i used my van to tow my new car home. it's a rolling shell of an '89 honda civic hatch back. here's a couple of pics of it. i would've taken more, but i was in a rush for time the entire day.

I call it "Project EF"

i snagged a tow dolly from work sat. night, drove up with it to vancouver and then towed my shell down to woodburn, stopping for 6 hours for work. took 99E down from milwaukie to woodburn, dropped off the shell at my grandma's, then towed the dolly back to milwaukie, night dropped it and went home.

so what am i going to do with a shell? well i have a donor car that drives. it runs... so so. the headgasket is cracked on it (but since i poured some heavy duty stop leak into the cooling system it's been starting much easyer and behaving it's self) but it would need a whole front clip. ie, all new front suspension, new core support cut/welded on... too much work.

the donor car is an 89 civic hatch dx w a 4spd auto. bone stock (minus the eagle rims i threw onto it last night to move it around). i'm going to pull the engine, replace all gaskets (and head if it needs to be replaced) and bolt it up to a 5spd tranny from a sedan from that era (cable tranny)

here's the donor car:

my goal is to have it driveable by september... i know that it will have full interior (minus the gear shifter) within the next couple of weeks, as well as a full front end (so i can bring it home). then sourcing the tranny and fixing the engine is next (as well as buying/finding all the parts needed like axles, flywheel, clutch parts, etc.) it will be fun, and when i'm done will hopefully be my more or less daily driver.

but yeah any ways i stayed out of over drive almost the entire trip, used criuse a little (on straitaways) and went slow. had no overheating problems, or braking problems. my 'star is a champ!

edit: i forgot to mention that the shell has no body major body damage (it has two shopping cart dents) no frame damage, both VIN tags (the donor only has one.... weird?) and a clean washington title. it will have ac but the car has a manual steering rack. so no powersteering. no fart can either. it's going to be put together stock, and if i feel the need for more... w/e.... i'm going to put on an actual exhaust. not a lame can. the engine will have the updated 92-newer intake manifold with the fuel rail and what not instead of the carb syle injector setup it currently has. sticking with the stock D16 non vtec 16v 4 banger... those engines are beast. might do a vtec head swap later on... but don't want to get in trouble. i want the mpgs, not the tickets.

Doesn't the VTEC head also need the computer to properly activate it?
