i brought a 92 flareside 4x4 w/5.0l and e4od to replace my big bronco as a daily driver.maybe a little better gas mileage was the thought behind it.
well the first thing is i got it sight unseen(killer price).i pick it up and everthing
is great except it doesn`t have the power it should.it has a ck engine light on,so i do a code ck.almost ever trans code come up even some standard shift codes.well my 1st thought was a broken wire.after looking under the truck i found a small plug hanging down on the passenger side of the trans.i can`t find a place to plug it in.i did find a photo on tci website that shows a oblong plug to the rear of the trans rail.well i don`t have a oblong plug there,as far as i can tell there is no wiring plugged in on the passenger side.
now it is tight along this side with everything running down this side of the frame and i maybe missing it.
if anyone has some suggestion i would love to hear it.
The solenoid pack connector in on top of the pan flange pointing straight up on the passenger side, it is just behind the small heat shield (protects it from exhaust pipe heat) and is toward the rear corner of the pan flange IIRC.
The solenoid pack's connector is about 1.5"x1" or so.
i can`t find where the round plugs goes.and the worst of it is i can`t find any wires going to the trans on that side.
where does the harness start. maybe i can trace it back.
Round plug? you're not talking about the O2 sensor wire are you? How many wires does it have?
Wires come down off the top of the tranny.
Shift lever/s position, neutral safety switch, solenoid pack and O2 harness come across the rear cross member then forward up on top of the transmission then split off and drop down to what they go to from there. (working from memory so it maybe a little different?)
If the connector you have hanging there is for the solenoid pack you can not see the connector for it on the tranny, if you do see it it won't be by much, you have to feel for it. The release button in the middle of the plug goes out or away from the tranny toward the passenger side when connecting it.
Solenoid pack connector will have 9 wires, 02 sensor connector will have four.
That's probably what its for then, the O2 connector on the harness is supposed to be anchored to the top of the tranny, then the lead on the O2 sensor itself is long and reaches to where its mounted.
