Propane conversion?

With the price of gasoline these days (and looking to go down) I have been considering converting my 1996 F-150 6 cyl to propane fuel. I have been looking online for conversion kits but so far have not had any luck. I shall greatly appreciate any help in finding information concerning this type of conversion. Thanks in advance. Ron

Ak Miller built a bunch of turbocharged propane Ford I-6s. He's gone now, but I wonder if someone has his shop?

I had a boss that was paranoid about us stealing from him. So he switched a bunch of our commercial vans to propane. Cost him a lot more, we could not get the tanks full, so we were constantly stopping to refill. They would have to be left on the filler for hours to get full, was worse during warm weather. Milage dropped, maintenance intervals went up, but you can do that by swapping out the oil you use. I got the best gas milage of anyone, this is how I did it. No agressive driving, stay as close to the speed limit as possible. Don't "run with the pack," when your on the freeway stay away trafffic thats all bunched up. When sitting at long lights, traffic jams turn the engine off. Brand name tires, cheap tires are more expensive in the gas they use, of course inflated properly. Clean battery every three months with mild degreaser, run one of the more robust fuel treatments thru the tank, they are thick like syrup. Change the air filter out using extreme condition guides. Tranny fluid, change at recommended intervals, not a flush unless its every other time, "which I personally do not trust."

PS the guys who got propane, we had pictures of the trucks pulled up to a hugh Propane Grill

I am also for looking propane conversion kits for the 300's. Does anyone have a good place to start looking? I have tried google, but to no avail. I have 8 industrial Ford engines that I need to convert to lower the pollution on them. I work for an airport and am looking for a more reasonable alternative to the $10000 engines the manufacturers are trying to sell me, thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick response. I did manage to find them after I posted. Someone had posted their names in one of the other threads. I sent them an email, hopefully they can help, especially because they are only 20 miles away.

Let us know how they turn out - plenty of forklifts and other industrial LPG applications out there and the 300 is a true workhorse.
