Howdy all, I'm seriously thinking of buying a set of long tubes for my 86 F150 (2wd, auto, 351 if it matters) Most everyone I talk to in town tell me Hooker and Headmans are both great.
I've been looking online and keep finding flowtechs for a good 50 bucks less then the others. Is anyone here running flowtecs, and if so are you satisfied with them? The truck they'll be going on is pretty much my daily driver so I'd like a set that'll hold up for a while.
Even if your not running Flowtecs feel free to chime in and share what brands you've had luck with.
The Flowtechs I have lasted 5 years(ceramic coated version) up here in the Great Salty North, and I have had no problems with gasket leaks at the heads.
I've been running a set of cheapy $175 ceramic dynomax headers on my 74' F-100 302 for about 8+ years and 40k and they still seal and do the job. I'd just get painted headers, clean up the welds and paint them with some header paint like VHT or Duplicolor. The ceramic will eventually peel up and rust anyway.
Just put them on my 84 150.
Install was not bad had to jack the motor up take the starter off
Also getting my Puple Hornie Mufflers soon
They are old school and made by Flowtech
She be a good sound and a good match
Sorry to hijack the thread but what does everyone think of the summit brand headers? I was just curious. The specs for the flowtechs and summit headers seem to be the same. I think the summit headers are cheaper. Are you just paying extra for the flowtech name or is there a difference in quality. Ive never heard anything from anybody that has the summit headers. Just trying to find the difference if any.
