today i tried to pull some tillage equipment on our farm
and the truck wouldnt do it
it didnt even spin the tires
and when i drove off it wouldnt go in reverse (i mean i put the shifter there, but it acts just like it's in park) & when i put it in neutral it's some forward gear now.
idk what i've done.
its a 2wd C6
what kinda $ are we talking here to fix it? I'm 16 and since diesel is $4.69 here I drive my impala so if it's gonna be expensive.....anyone wanna buy an 85 f250 XLT Lariat 6.9L diesel w/97k miles?
I would if Your near Kansas!
As to cost the parts are cheap finding a friend to put them in will be tough. I've been fixing C6's since I was Your age I didn't have the money to pay someone so I had to learn how to fix it. Buy the book find a clean place to do and learn.
Where can I start getting info about how to fix it?
My uncle had an 86 f250 4.9L 4x4 and we have the Chilton's manual for it
would that work?
What if i found a donor truck that had the E40D like from an idi 7.3
i read somewhere something about a c6 being hydraulic & e40d electric shifts? so i would assume no?
(sorry, i really dont know anything about fixing cars and neither does my dad,.......i'm just afraid if i dont have it fixed he will make me sell it)
The best books I have found for transmissions are ATSG or Automatic Transmission Service Group toinfo@transonline.com . We have a Transmission Parts House In Wichita A&Reds that sells them I think I have bought one from JC Whitney. It will take You step by step Diagnosis Disassembly Assembly Measuring clearances torquing bolts what more could I say ;-)
since i cant afford insurance & plates we're taking it to our farm in southern illinois.......120 miles away. The insurance expires at the end of the month. so i wont get it fixed before then. Is it safe to drive?
