hey guys this is Earl i'm looking for a bench seat for my 79 f-100 with the rails does not matter the condition i will recover the seat just want to take out the bucket seats in my effie if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated Thanksfor your time
Earl W.
We have a bench seat in the Project Truck...which we'd probably have to change to buckets/racing thing so we can put in a decent harness to hold us in securly...I'll leave it up to the group and post a poll later on to see evryones onkay with sawpping seats with you...this trucks a '72 IIRC, so not really even sure if it's a direct bolt in.
I am not sure the seat is the same - I sort of remember a few inches difference in the rails.
Regardless, the project truck has a XLT Explorer seat - there are special name badges installed on the original seatback. Those badges are special and hard to find if someone is doing an original rebuild.
Don't let the seat go with these badges attached - - - - unless the guy who gets the seat needs them!
I didn't notice any badges...but IIRC the seat has a seat cover on it? If so, they may be hidden under it...but I'll pull'em off for you.
Bu do you agree, we'd be better off with buckets and some type of harness (just easier to make a harness around a bucket seat) rather than a bench seat with just a shoulder/lap belt?
I'll leave it up to you and Earl (if it'll work and he wants to swap) if so, then he and I can work out the details.
I don't care about the seat - but for the badges. They are under the saddle blanket cover. If you can recover them, put them on ebay. They go for $50 to $100 when you can find them.
thanks guys my seats atat i have are not a direct bolt in had to fab up a few brackets out of my old seat tracks but if you are wlling to trade that would be great
thanks
Earl W.
If the seat from Thumper doesn't work out, I have the original seat out of my '68...it's black and needs to be recovered but it's complete including the rails and in reasonably decent shape other than the upholstery (and I beleive it's just the driver's side bottom that's shot). You could just have the thing if you want it. Pics available on request.
