Thanks Dave, I understand where you are coming from. I was wondering what you thought about the idea of using a electric grid heater element in the mouth of the intake (Similar to the Cummins).

Congratulations on having and using a truck for 22 years that is awesome

Adam.

In my opinion, 7.3 engines are not rebuildable.

I had three reman 7.3 turbo engines die in 1.5 years and under 30,000 miles.

A 7.3 has to be sleeved when rebuilt, a 6.9 does not.

Sleeves are a bad joke, many engine shops will not touch a 7.3 because of the sleeve problems.

Basically Locktite is all that holds the sleeves in place.
If they move, a cracked block is the result.
Ouch Good thing I know of an 86 f250 with a hypermax turbo kit, upgraded injectors, no front tires, a junk clutch, bad fuel pump, no starter and borked wiring that sits back in a field. I know it runs, I made it run The way it sits, it will run for no one but me My brother almost bought it, put in a new starter, glow plugs, jumpered the hell out of it, ran it off of a funnel hooked into the elbow on the fuel filter. Screamed like a wounded cat.
Guess I'll just have to buy it when it's rebuild time
