Oil in Upper Intake

When I had my throttle body off I looked inside the upper intake and noticed some oil or some liquid (about a couple tablespoons worth) pooled at the end of the intake. Now is this normal or is there something happening that shouldn't be??

I have had similar oil show up on my truck in the past. It was usually just a small amount inside the plastic/rubber intake tube before the throttle body. I think it is more common on the mass air trucks, because the breather hose attaches to the intake tube. On speed density trucks, it connects to the bottom of the air filter box and has its own paper filter. I thought about rerouting mine or just putting a breather filter on the end of the hose that connects to the oil cap filler neck, so that it doesn't go into the intake. I don't know if this will have adverse affects or not though.

never seen an intake on these motors without that so i would say it is normal.

Well I figured it must be pretty common because of that breather hose that goes into the intake tube. There is just no way around it unless you make a modification like TexasGuy said. I figured that that must be where all the buildup behind the butterflies on my throttle body came from, because other than that little bit of oil, all that is supposed to come through there is air.

Thanks guys.

Just don't let it go in too fast, hydro-locked a brand new engine doing that.

I have run seafoam through the brake booster line about 200 miles ago. How is running seafoam through the brake booster line gonna clean up the upper intake? Where does the brake booster line go to? For some reason I thought it went to someplace other than that.

If you pull it of at the booster it runs directly into the upper intake. Won't clear out the throttle body though.

Yah, I went and took a look at it and that is where it goes. I guess that makes sense because where else would you pull vacuum from other than the throttle body.

Thanks.
