Premium sound display problems

Hi. I've got a 1998 Mountaineer with the Mach premium sound. The display will slowly fade to dead at times then come back on. It doesn't affect the sound at all,,,it's just annoying..Any thoughts??

I am having the exact problem with a 98 Explorer Limited. With the Dual Media Audio System with CD DJ compatibility. Is this possibly a problem with the wire that dim's the display? Any info greatly appreciated!

I have the same system in a 1998 ford explorer limited. My radio had the same symptoms. Now my display is out totally. The radio works fine, but no display whatsoever, no clock either.

I heard word of a place that you can send the
radio for repair... No details though.. Anyone hear
of such a place?

Is the amp located back by the sub-woofer?

The problem has to do with the radio being too close to the heater and ac vents. Im sure when you play a cd for an extended period of time it will come out real hot when ejected. I havent heard of any fix for it, I just bought a new radio and the dash kit that I got with it has a small pocket above the radio opening, taking up the extra space from the larger factory radio. The pocket sits right under the vents so now it blocks it from the radio. No more problems with heat.

I have the same problem with my 99 F-150. The best remedy is pressing firmly on the actual display. That works for me.
