One of the first things I fabricated for my E350 was an enlarged air intake to compliment the Banks exhaust since the only intake Banks made was for motorhomes.
The stock plastic part just seemed so very restrictive and frankly, there isn't much room under the hood of the van, so I was limited in what I could do.
I basically enlarged the stock configuration - molded a composite part that fits perfectly as a direct replacement for the O.E.M. part
Short of cutting a hole in the hood this was the best I could come up with.

I made a few for friends and they seem to think it works.

Here's another shot comparing the stock part with the one I made. It has a significant increase in volume, however it's still restricted by the size of the opening at the grill.
I had an idea of how to fix that but never got around to tackling it.
