Miss Fire? Lunging

I have a 2001 F 150 w/ 5.4 auto. My question is when I am driving it will sometimes start lunging during acceleration ( like a manuall trans and going from 1st gear to 5th gear) It does not show any cel or the tach does not seem to fluctuate, sometimes it is worse than others. i notice it allways happens if I drive down a bumpy dirt rd and come to a stop and turn onto the pavement. it will start going away slowly and will usually stop if I turn the truck off. I put the truck into nuetral and rev the motor it responds perfectly. I replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs. I have not yet checked the fuel pressure (does anybody know what it should be at?).i had a 99 f250 that the torque convertor was locking up early but this is much worse. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.........
