help

i have a 2000 f150 4x4 7700 pickup truck. i do have a 7'6'' fisher minute mount2 plow for it. even when i take the plow off the front of my truck sits much lower to the ground than my brothers 2002 f150. i just put new shocks on it and it made very little difference. i also would like to get a little more gas milage out of it. i have a k&n high flow intake system, i was wondering what exaust to put on it because i have the original on it at 75,000 miles. any other gas milage tips will be apreciated.(expecially at $4.30 a gallon)

Welcome to FTE 2000f-1507700!

Your truck has torsion bars that set the ride height of the front end. To raise the front end of the truck takes some adjustment on these torsion bars. They are under the truck and the end where the adjustment is made is back under the mid section of the cab in the seat area. You can get about 3 inches maximum if I am not mistaken.

To begin with, measure a common point on each side of the truck for refference to see how much it may be sagging on one side. You will want it to be level front to rear and side to side.

The easiest way to do this is to raise the front end off of the ground. Crank each side up a couple of turns. Then set it back down and drive it to settle the suspension. Measure again and if necessary crank it again till you are satisfied and even. Good luck!

the coil springs in the front may be weak...

as for gas mileage...set air pressure in tires...AND SLOW DOWN!!

The 4x4 model trucks do not have coil springs in the front suspension, only the 2wd models do. That is, unless the heavy-duty F-150 7700 models are different than all the other 4x4 model of F-150s in this model year range.

Don't expect better mileage from any exhaust system. The only proven reasonably priced mileage improving mods are Electric Fans and proper gears. A tuner may give you better mileage IF you can drive modestly with the added power.

If you do crank your torsion bars, get it aligned ASAP. Also, raising the front will create more wind resistance and lower your MPG's.
