I have a 82' Flareside with a bad stereo. I wondering for about $600-$800 what is the best thing to put in it. (I really only want two speakers but I will consider putting in a sub to. )
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Jan-02 AT 10:44 PM (EST)]I think for $800 you could put in a 60 watt head unit and a set of front 6.5 components with an amp easy. For example, I've priced an Alpine CDA-7873 for about $325. It has 60 watts x 4, 4 volt sub out, front/rear preouts, remote control ready. It also has angle face ability.
Alpine SPR-175A's (component 6.5's) are around $170 and can take 200w/50w.
Amp to power fronts -------- $120 (Alpine MRP-T130) Subtotal - $615
The next step would be to add a sub.
8 in Subwoofer and amp --- $250 (Alpine MRP-T130 again) Total - $865
These products are very good ones and not cheap!
Keep in mind I've gone to the three biggest Alpine dealers I can find for good deals, as well, that I am converting from canadian dollars!
Good luck,
Matt
Thanks, I'm canadian to and the other I was looking at stereos the total price came to about $800 and that was with a amp, two 6 x 9's and a head unit, all of which were top of the line. thanks

Do you mean $800 canadian?
Are you thinking of putting 6x9's in the front or rear?? You'd be better off putting 6.5 components (separate tweeter) in the door, with no rear speakers, but a sub behind the seat!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Jan-02 AT 10:14 PM (EST)]I bought a Pioneer DEH-P630 CD player replaced stocks with Memphis 3-way 6 1/2 and have 2 JL Audio 8's behind the seat and a Pioneer 200 Watt Amp for about 820 Dollars in the US....and it sounds great....Hope this helps...
The speakers will be put in the doors and the perferred speakers are two 6x9's. From what I've looked at already I can get two 6x9's (can't remember from who) that have everything thing in them (tweeters) a 330w amp and a head unit for about $800 installed (all this is from Visions in Lethbridge Alberta). I do have some stuff from an old truck that was really good (not sure how good they are I do know where the speakers are, I just need to take them out of the truck to exam them. They are probably no good because the truck has been used as a spray truck for the past five yearse or so) they worked and when I find them I will ask around about them to see if they're any good, how many watts the amp is ect.by the way weldman I'm from Coutts Alberta on the border on highway 4 1 hour south of Lethbridge AB.
