I heard the 6 cyl cummins engine was a good fit for my 82 Flareside.. Anyone know anything about it?

From what I have read and been told, the 4 cylinder is much easier to swap.

For me I think a lot depends on what I want to use the truck for.

First I don't think I would use a short bed truck as the bed is so small to hold any kind of pay load.

But if I was going to install a diesel into a SWB or LWB truck I would look at the Cummins 4BT and do more reading of this site Cummins 4BT & Diesel Conversions Forums

My brother out in CA. has a few 4x4 with the 4BT motors. He said you can tune them up to put out insane HP.

ps:yes I have given thought of a 4BT in my flaire side truck but the 300 six will have to do for now.

And It is the weight of the bigger Cummins and why I would look at the 4BT.

With 31 pages it will take time to read it over but would like to see what he did to make all work.
