Hey guys. I know there are alot of threads to search and Ive gathered enough info to ask some questions. My compressor will come on when I turn the switch inside. It comes on for about half a second and shuts off for 3 seconds. On for half, off for three. Sounds like low coolant right? Well I hooked up a can with a guage on it. The guage climbs to about 50 psi, the compressor kicks on. The guage immediately falls to about 27 psi and compressor shuts off. It should shut off when the pressure gets that low right? But why climb up and down? Y'all have talked about testing the pressure switch, how do I go about this? Maybe you think I should just add more coolant... If I do need to add more it is likely that I have a leak to track down too. Any replies will be appreciated. If I can do anything to provide more information let me know. 93 F150 5.0
Thanks for the reply. This may have nothing to do with it but last night I got to fooling around with it and the line that runs close to the accumulator, rubber if I'm not mistaken and turns to metal and has what I would call a valve in it. Well below the valve, where it runs into the firewall, gets freezing cold but thats the only line that feels cold. Normal for being low on refrigerant?? Im no A/C expert so any thoughts are only helping. Thanks guys.
