So I was out looking at used trucks the other day and at this particular dealer they have a BUNCH of F250/350 XLT-King Ranch 6.0's for really cheap. They are all pretty much below blue book and they look perfect BUT they are buy backs. Any opinions on that?
I have a buy back. I purchsed it in Apr 06. It had 11005 miles on it and carried a full warranty. The previouse owner had complained about a vibration. After not being able to satisfy him Ford just bought it back I got an excellent price on the truck and have not hac a minutes problem with it. The dealer is supposed to diclse everything that cause the buy back and what has been done to retify the problem. I would probably purchase another buy back. I am happy with mine.
That is good to hear. At 11K miles there is a lot of warranty left. I never thought I could afford an F350 4X4 dually lariat but I guess so. My fiance asked "Do you really need all that?" I answered of course not. That is the point. Why pay a little less for an F150 when you can go overkill.
How do you know that? I have an 05 F350 6.0 Utility right now and I am not complaining. By the way my 05 gets better than 8 mpg and it weighs 10K so I don't know how you come up with that figure. As far as what I am using it for I haven't decided. I figure I may as well cover my bases for any use in the future. Last thing is I am a contractor so fuel is tax deductable. It pays to live in the greatest country.
I suppose buy-backs could be a good buy. Particularly if it's something like a vibration. But I would be real careful with any 6.0 or 6.4 diesel that has electrical gremlins. Anything to do with PCM replacements, wire chafing, or that kind of thing. It seems like there are a few of these trucks out there that they just cannot figure out the electical problems.
Yea I guess that is the gamble. I haven't had any problems with my 05 but it only has 12K on it. Originally I was going to but another Utility truck so I could eventually use it in my business when I expand but the woman in looking at trucks started leaning towards a Lariat. I am marrying her in five days and I think I made the right choice.
I have one, it's an 06 Lariat,CC,FX4,DRW,PSD. The guy said it didnt get good enough mpg. This thing is loaded and in perfect shape and I got it for under 30k. I havent had any problems, but if I do I also got 100k bumper to bumper waranty. I think he just used that to get rid of it because I average about 16 mpg on the highway empty. I dont regret it at all.
