Since the Minions thread is closed, and who knows if another will be opened, I'll give everyone the update from this past Saturday.
I got there late, so I only ran in the C (38 and under) and D (44 and under) classes. Considering that I haven't really started or moved the 150 since last October, I wasn't expecting much, just going out to have some fun. Friday I took off work to replace the rear brakes and remove the welded carrier in the front to replace it with the open carrier. What should have been a fairly quick job, took a while as Iended up needing to replace the rear axle seals and had some isses with needing to stip another axle out just to get the spiders to put in my spare carrier.
Anyway, all was good in the end. We didn't feel like messing with tire changes so I just had the 38.5 x 11" boggers on the Samurai wheels on the truck. My 1st run got me a full 200' pass in 9.4 seconds. I pulled the cable through the hole as I wasn't sure how it would run since it had been sitting so long. Now I wish I hadn't as the weight and drag of the cable will easly add 2-4 seconds to your times. Here's some pics staging and in the hole:
Paul has a video of the run, hopefully he can post it up for me, as I'm kind of curious as how it looked.
No my second run was in D class, and this time I didn't pull the cable. I was second in the hole for the class out of about 19 trucks. I pulled the hole in 7.18 seconds this time, and it was good enough to get me 3rd place. Not bad considering I was still running 38's against guys with 44's, I have 200k on the motor (well at least the bottom end that is!) and they run built motors, I was running 93 octane pump gas and most of them run CAM II race fuel in various blends.
Here's a pic of the truck on the trailer all stapped down with the trophey. Heck, I haven't even washed it yet!
I'm going to try to get the vid I took up later tonight Karl, my monitor went out on my desktop, and I don't think my laptop and digi cam get along too well. We shall see.
Yeah, 460 is small when yhou think that my plans for next year are in the 572 range...... but if money is still tight it may have to wait yet another year, though...
Paul, sounds good. I hope it isn't too embarrassing to watch.
Man thats was fast!! I thought it was quick when I was in the hole, but I've never really been able to see what the truck looked like or sounded like when running. You must have started the video right after I shifted into second. I learned last year to only stay in1st just to launch and then quickly go up into second. I was at the other end when I started to grab the shifter for 3rd when I popped out of the hole. Next time, next time....
Thanks, it's just a play toy, and I believe that was my "C" class run which was slower that the "D" class run. Right now it has a full custom exhaust, starting with the Motorsport shorty headers, going to a racing cat, to a 50 series Flowmaster that is a 4" inlet and 2 3" outlets. But right before the cat and built into my y pipe is a 3.5" header dump that I can cam when it goes on the street.
The funny part is toward the end of the video, right when I pop out of the hole, it sounds like my truck stalls but it's an atv that starts up to retrieve the cable, just don't want anyone to think my truck konked out at the end.
