Okay, motors I can handle. Even helicopters aren't particularly a mystery to me. What I can't figure out is how to replace the factory (ugh!!) speakers in my '97 (old body style) F250 supercab truck. I figure the door panel has to come off on the front doors, just don't know how to do it without tearing something up. And the rears are a complete mystery. Also, what size speakers will fit?
If it is the old style truck then the rears are 6X8 and the fronts are 6 1/2 inch round speakers. Do not pull on the corners of the grill covering the rear speakers, it is attached on the sides. There is a lip on the left and right sides about 5 inches long that holds it in place. Crasp one side of the grill, push in so the lip will come out and it pops right off. The front you need to take the door panel off.
Try looking at Kenwood KFC-X688C,KFC-6808C,or Pioneer TS-A6895,TS-A6867.These are all rated as high sensitivity (db) speakers that will produce louder sound with lower input power but you need to match your wattage.Rock On
I put some JBL components from Crutchfield in my 93 F-150. I also put some Blaupunkt Components in the front. They have an awesome sound. I also have a Alpine head with 50X4.
I paid $75 for all my speakers. Try out www.ebay.com, you'll likely find a good deal.
I HAD a very nice new Pioneer CD/stereo in my truck. Got stupid though! I set my son's McDonalds cup full of sprite on the dash, forgot it and took off. Sprite spilled down the dash, ran straight into the CD player and fried it! I was so ticked!! I still had a 3 yr old Blaupunkt CD player that I'd taken out of another truck, and I put that in. It's still an excellent player, just not as "fancy" as the Pioneer was. It claims to make 160 watts. The factory speakers just won't carry it that well.
