hey guys i need some opinions before i tear this apart cause i want to get everything first. so i'll tell you my problem the truck sat all winter (yes it had antifreeze in it) i checked everything before i tried starting it and found coolant was low as it always leaks out the front of the intake gasket. next i couldnt get it to turn over which im glad it didnt i pulled the plugs and cylinders 2 and 6 (i think) were full of antifreeze so does that sound like a intake gasket or head gaskets this is in a 1976 ford f100 4x4 with a 514 crate motor and is not that old. i bought the motor from ford a few years ago and changed the intake so im hoping i just didnt get it to seal right. thanks
1. is it a F100 or F150? your post says F100, and your gallery says F150.
2. what are you really wanting opinions on? if you want to know why the coolant is leaking into where plugs 2 & 6 are then I would say it is an intake gasket.
Might want to make sure its not head gaskets-and hope they aren't. Perhaps do a compression test and watch for bubbles or pressure in the cooling system.
Remember to change your oil or it may lock up from thermoplastic seizure. I could possibly see if cyl.'s 1, 4, 5, or 8 had antifreeze in them due to the location of the 460 style water passages through the intake-usually intakes should leak straight into the crank case. JMO Still not good.
I hear the antifreeze you can get for big rigs won't kill your engine instantly if it gets into the oil-might be pricey, but so is a full overhaul.
I smear some high temp silicone around the water passage holes of the intake gaskets, and next time will do so for the intake port holes to ward against intake manifold leaks. Overkill perhaps, but do it good once and its done!
Good luck! That 514 should throw that ol half ton around nice!
