Unhappy Lift Law?

A friend of mine threw mud flaps on his truck. He said his friend was pulled over for being too tall, and wrote him a ticket. He claims SUVs don't count, it only pertains to pickups.

My truck sticks out, being an oldie around here. I've got a 4" chassis lift and 35" tires, which makes the truck 7 foot at the top of the cab.

Is there a lift law I wasn't aware of? I always see lifted trucks that are lifted higher than mine.

Or is this hogwash?

I get pulled over about once a month for no mud flaps! I never actually get a "ticket" just a repair order. I should really start recycling those things lol. What they tell me.....in AZ..if you have ANY lift at all, mudflaps are required. They usually forget about the mudflaps after I inform them I have a gun in the truck

you could offer to let them drive it...they might even forget the gun!!

How do you inform them of the gun?

do you say...Hey Occifer, I have a gun...

Do you hand them a concealed carry license with your drivers license?

or hand them the gun with your license?

Haha.....when they are approaching the truck, I "calmly" inform them of the gun inside the vehicle. (with hands in plain view) They apreciate the honesty

I've been pulled over for the same reason, the highway patrolman said bigger (taller)tires or a lift constitutes the need for mud flaps in the rear of truck.

I had a link to the law, the best I can remember it only stated pickups that are lifted and all trucks 1 ton or over. I will keep looking for the link.

When I used to get pulled over for no flaps they told me that if your tires stick out the side of the truck than you need flaps. I got tired of getting pulled over for it so I stuck a cheap azz pair of flaps on. Heard the ticket if over $500, if they write you one.
