Anyone Here A Plumber?

This is off topic BIGTIME....but just about all the friends I have in the world hang out in the 99-03 forum, so what I want to know is what would a licensed plumber charge to come in and replace a garbage disposal. New disposal supplied by homeowner.

Im no plumber and would have no idea of rates but i will tell you this. I liquidate commercial garbage disposals all the time. alot of hobarts (2-5 HP up to 10 HP). They seem to be fairly easy to take off and put on. I think you need some sort of Fitting or ring adaptor that will only fit your sink / garbage disposal. Then i assume the plumber will seal it with some silicone and hook up the electrical. But then again, im no plumber - this is just my guess from taking them out. If you can use a commercial hobart (if it fits) then id be happy to ship you one free of charge - PM if your interested and i can give you some model numbers etc. Goodluck

Wow, that's labor only? Should have been a plumber all of my life instead of a carpenter. I did it for someone already and I am trying to put a monetary value on what I did for her.

Plumbers, electricians and HVAC people all charge more than I do. That is why I get upset when people freak out when I tell them my hourly rate.

I maintain their computer systems that run their business! But I guess a plugged toilet is more important than payroll or invoicing, DOH!!

Mark, going rate around here is $60 service fee and $125/hour + parts. replacing a garbage disposal is not hard at all though. you should consider doing it yourself, if they let you.

Dave, I've already finished it. R and R'd it, but she is letting me park in her driveway because I had nowhere else to go. She is real **** about money and I was just curious as to what some of the stuff I do for her is worth towards the rent she wants to charge me for parking my motor home here.

Dang, that is awesome . You make more than most engineers & architects I know.

years ago, if someone would have told me there was more money in HVAC, plumbing & electrical wiring than computers, I would have laughed my *** off. Dang, was I naive.

Mark I do all kinds of different work from automotive repair , handyman work , bush hog work you name it I charge an hourly rate according to the job. Charge by the job not by the hour if you are going to have alot of work from her, that way you won't get stuck doing everything for the same rate.

Ditto that also! Union wages are a LOT higher then it would be without them, in fact.....I wouldn't have a job....PERIOD.
