Yesterday I was driving from one picnic to another, family aboard. I pulled up to a red light and noticed some mist coming out from the pass. side cowl/hood area, UH-OH! Quick scan the gauges, everything is normal, its a hot day and the A/C is on high. Wife says no A/C blowing out her side, no place to pull over yet, so I drive @ a mile, several traffic lights, still mist at every light. I finally get into a parking lot, all the while nervously keeping an eye on the gauges- still OK. Pop the hood, mist coming from next to pass. side battery. The line from the condenser to the compressor runs between the battery and the intercooler tube on my truck, and it rubbed against the battery tray and wore a hole in the line. Just a heads-up, guys check your line so you don't lose your A/C like I just did. - Tim
No problem. I checked under the hood of my company truck ( 03 F250, 5.4) and it is flat past the battery then shoots down towards the compressor. For some reason, the diesel- my personal truck- the line shoots up and next to the battery tray where it rubbed thru, but the work truck has no intercooler tube to contend with.

No just one. Where would you fit a second alternator in that tight of a mess anyway? Sorry it took me so long to get back, my son has baseball practice every night and tournaments on the week-end, not much spare time right now. A/C will have to wait
OK, gotcha! Yeah, I guess there is just enough room in that area if you wanted to put #2 there. I don't really power anything extra that I would need a second alt. A mechanic at work told me I could prob. take my A/C line to a hose-making shop and they would cut/splice my line instead of a new one. We get hydraulic lines fixed for the equiptment like that all the time, just make the cut for the splice thru the spot that rubbed thru. Now I just need a few hours to work on it...
