Need a multimeter, help me choose

Looking to get a multimeter for basic diagnostic stuff- don't really see the need to spend the big bucks for a Fluke or similar meter (maybe I'm wrong here). I found two that seem to be good deals, let me know what you think

Option #1

Option #2

Option #1 is what I would personally go with. Since, I am a sparky, Fluke is a greater choice. Just depends on what you intend to do.

For doing what I'll be doing (mostly truck related stuff) I think a Fluke would be way overkill for my needs. I liked option #1 best, but found the other one on Fleabay and it seemed like a good'un also. It sounds like #1 is the way to go... happy Father's Day to myself

Between the two I would go with the first one. Be careful because some of the Craftman meters have a very slow sampeling rate, this means that you have to hold the leads on whatever you are testing for a bit longer to get a true reading.

Since my fluke was free, I use it all the time. But is way over kill for just general usage.

Either one would be fine. Option #1 is more basic (not high tech) and like the one I have which works fine if I remember to move the lead plug when I change functions. Might want to get some little fuses on hand..... Both have the continuity function which I use a lot.

A couple of more options available from the big home improvement stores are Greenlee and GB (Gardner Bender). I have used both of them and in my experience they are good meters.

I have a couple Flukes but I also bought a bunch from Harbor freight that I use a lot
You get what you pay for but the $3 HF ones a good to loan and give to people who need a basic meter and they work as good as any cheap one

Option #1 has a "measurement rate" of 2 times/second, #2 is 3 times/second...
