Won't start

1992 F150 6 cyl 5sp been setting 2-3 mo. eng cranks when starter fluid sprayed into intake starts then dies. Checked valve on fuel rail it squirts about a tablespoon of fuel. Has in-tank fuel pump or pumps not sure of the way the fuel system is put together. Any Ideas?

thanks

Good news is your ign. system is OK as it starts and runs on ether. When you switch the ign. on do you hear the fuel pump running for about 2sec? Also a good point from outlaw.

Don't know how to check for power to injectors. Will check if pump is runing for the 2 sec or so when ignition is turned on. Is there a fuel pump run relay as I may get fuel when ignition is turned on but nothing to keep the engine running. How about a fuel filter.
thanks

to check this you can use a multimeter-just un plug the connector and use the meter to see if you get a pulse-the current won't be constant-or you can borrow a noid light from a friend that has one-they both do the same thing

it just shows that when you first post write down everything you can think of about your truck and the things you tried and the exact problem you are having.
