I currently have four 8" speakers in my car. They hit pretty good, but i want more. I have a friend who is considering selling me two jbl 12's for $105, if he actually decides to sell them i'm buying. what I really need is an amp, i'm pushing two Orion Cobalt 8's with an 80watt Road Gear amp that someone gave to me. Road gear is crap, don't buy it. My orion 8's are 300 watts ea. my other two are something like 200 ea. and those are hooked to my radio. The JBL's are 1,200 max each. any recomendations on amps???? and also good crosovers, because my orions sound like crap with out crossovers.
As far as amps go it is personal preference for looks and options. They are all made just about the same these days. I can tell you one thing from experience stay away from sony explod amps. Had one and took it back for a Fosgate x1000.1 which is the best amp i have owned. Another good brand i have used in the past is Kenwood. Crutchfield is a good mail order that has a huge selection and if you call them they have operators that can help you make a selection with the equipment you have. As far as the crossover, most "good" amps have a built in crossover which is fine if you dont get into competitions. I have 3 10's as you see in my sig. and i dont use a crossover except the one on the amp. Good luck.
2001 F-350 CC Lariat 4X4 LB PSD SRW, Heated leather, off road package, western snow plow, strobe lights in parking lights and backup lights, tinted windows, pioneer cd player, rockford fosgate 1000x1 amp rocking 3 JL Audio 10W0's behind back seat, husky liners front and back, Hypermax "hot rod" chip, Hypermax pryo/boost gauge and Hypermax 5 inch exhaust on the way.
I bought the JBL 12's and put them in my Aerostar. They sound pretty good, for 1200 watt speakers being pushed by an 80watt max amp! Don't laugh though i'm getting a 500 watt amp soon, and that should boost the power quite a bit. ended up trading the orion 8"s for the 12s, still had to pay a bit though. still got a great deal. My back door rattles badly, is there a way to fix this without spending a bunch??
go to an audio store and tell them you need some sound dampening, it will fix the rattle maybe not all the way but thats the best you can do. makes it sound good not noticeable.
hey folks i'm back
As for the rattles you can go to lowes and get Peal and Seal ... it is MUCH cheaper than dynamat or other name brand sound deadener.
