Two years ago at the PA car show there was a 5.0 Mustang with a 460 for sale at around $7,500. It was a fairly nice car that only needed a few more touches to be perfect. That would be your best bet for one as the engine was warmed up and the owner, a full time tech seemed to be on top of everything about it.

If I was gonna do something like that I would do it myself. There are alot of suspension type upgrades you have to do with a swap like that, and its easy to not have them done.

I still think a older early fifties car will always outcool a Mustang post 1972.

It had the 5.0/5 sp that`s going in the seller`s 56 Ford car. The rest of the car is pretty ruff and has rust so it was parted out. Some good parts left on it like decent seats and an 8.8 rear end for the 83 convert if I end up keeping it.

What kinda rear end does that 83 have right now?

If you ask me theres only a handfull of 50's cars that are cooler then a 87-93 mustang. Alot of those 50's cars were pretty crappy looking, and the handfull of them were amazing!

The 83 has the 7.5 and the 88 should have the 8.8 rear axle with alot more ratios available.
The 50`s and 60`s to me were the golden era of North American vehicles, eventually they`ve become a deary means of mundane daily transportation after muscle cars died out. The 80`s up Mustangs are all neat but I`ll get never get excited about a golf, corolla or a toyo.......
Now all we have is computerized plastic cookie cutter go carts.

I did really like the mid to late 60's. The whole musclecar era was great!

Im a vehicle guy, I can appreciate all sorts of old vehicles, even some of those uglier ones

I really agree with what Fom said in that last post. Just seems like nobody cares anymore what they drive.

Yeah cant beat the ol muscle cars i really like some of the ol 50s cars some sweet ones

dam too bad that car didnt have an engine maybe a good project for me wonder how hard would it be to put in a 5.0 HO

if you threw in a 5.0 5spd Fom i would probably take er i wouldnt mind taking it as is but i dont know i have no experience putting in an engine or the tools shop etc

Well fellas shes all about technology. Just think where we would be without computers, let alone a computer in a car.

I dont really like the stylings of many brand new vehicles these days either, but thats the way she goes

I see your point Sheldom but still I can`t help feeling like nothing beats ugly like new.....Unless you like plastic bubble shapes.
There is no real chrome or graceful long slender lines on cars any more, just hang some plastic fender extentions with plastic lens and out the door she goes looking like the rest other there.......
End of rant, now back to regular programing....
