plug wires question

I have a 3.0 FF in a 2000 Ranger. It is running rough so I did the water on the plug wires at night trick. What a show! The wires I have on it came from AutoZoo. They are 12 -18 months old. Does anyone recommend a better wire set?

Good troubleshooting with the "wet down" test.

Why not consider the specified Motorcraft OEM plugs & wire set, they are designed for the engine, are well made, work real good & last a loooong time!!!!

My local Motorcraft distributors prices are better than the local wally world & auto parts stores.

We also have site sponsors that toute good prices on OEM parts, so why not consider giving them a chance to bid on your job????!!!

Let us know how it goes.

Good ideas! I did check with Autozoo, the wires are only warranted for 1 year. So, what does that tell me? That I will be buying a new set every 12 to 18 months!

As mentioned, stick with Motorcraft. The Motorcraft wires and plugs are about the best that can be had for Fords, the only performance wire I know of that is better is Magnacore, and boy will you pay a pretty penny for those.

part duece

Time to get unlazy and replace those wires and plugs. Checked with Autozoo and they only had one set to choose from. They had several sets at Advance. Checked the sponsors here and couldn't find any. Got a set made by Motorcraft and plugs by Autolite. I knew the wires were bad but when I pulled the plugs they were marginal. HHHHMMMM It has a rough idle and when I get to 40-45 the whole truck shakes. Runs fine at WOT. This was just beginning to get noticeable when we started using the AC now it has gotten worse. No check engine light. Any ideas where to check next?
