I'm about to order a engine kit, this engine is going to have a turbo. Do I need to be spesific when I order to get different piston other than the regular or all are the same and if you know a good place to order them and have a good price as well thanks
Factory turbo 7.3's had a different piston and rod. The wrist pin is bigger. The crow on the piston is different also. I think it has a steel crown.
If you are doing a 7.3 you could change the rods and update the motor.
If you are going with stock NA pistons you may want to think about milling them down some. Dave can give you more info on that stuff. I haven't gotten into building one of these for power. To many other things to. do.
No need to change the rods all the wrist pin dose is add rotaiting wieght. The only dfference in the turbo pistons according to the ford turbo update manuel is that they are anidised. I would go with cyramics myself maybe even get some .040 milled down pistons.
