have a 78, f150, 351m, 4x4, 4spd, 6" lift, 38x12.50x15, 7ft bed, duel h/d after mkt. shocks on front, h/d after mkt. on rear, 3/4 ton rear end. just loaded a cord of wood, lifted my front end enough to make steering squirrelly. anyone have any idea's that might help.
thanks
that happed to my truck when i loaded the bed full of gravel. went up an overpass and the front end started to rise. i just slowed down to about 5mph. how much weight was it?
Air bags would help, 3/4T rear leafs would work, the 5-leaf 1/2 ton rear suspension is only for carrying lighter loads. Also a helper spring would help.
im not sure if any old fords came factory with helper springs, but i see a lot of them at junkyards. they are a spring that sits on top of the spring pack in reverse, and have their own bumpstops in between the hangars. I dont know if those would work with the lift but they work quite well with factory set-ups, I would recommend either the air-bags or heavier 3/4 t leafs.
Helper springs can make for a rough ride when the truck is empty as well as limit suspension flex and travel. This can have negetive results if you spend time in the off road. Airbags are the way to go and I belive can be fitted to quick disconnects for off road use.
