question about transmission
i was wondering if it possible if you could put a six speed manual out of a 1999 powerstroke into an 1989 f250, what do yall think

Anything can be done.
I don't know what it takes but I it has been discussed here before.
Somebody should chime in and help you out.

I think you can but you also have to use the newer transfer case. Of course you have to fab or modify cross members, drivelines etc.

The biggest issue if you truck is pre 92 is there is no place to hook up a speedometer cable on the ZF 6 or the 283 transfer case.
Both the input shaft and output shaft are larger in the ZF 6.

I listed the wrong numbers for the ZF 6 transfer case.
Manual shift is New Process 271.
Dash shift is New Process 273.

I allways liked the chevy 283ci dave, I bet that transfer case is bullittprof and screams!!!

Actually it was CRS kicking in.
Getting old is a lot like an old computer hard drive.
All the information is still there, but access times are very slow usually.
Some days I can recall what I need when I need it, some days I "Can't Remember S_ _ _"
When I post stuff anymore, I find myself having to check more and more notes to get it right.
273 - 283, I got two out of three right, it was a better than average day.
