I need to replace a 5.4 in a 2001 F-250 (hole in piston) and am considering different manufactors, warranties, price, etc. Any good or bad suggestions to share?
I would swear by Jasper. I started using them 12 years ago and have never had a regret. Great company and great product. The first engine I changed out is still going strong, many many miles later. 3 yr 100k warranty now I believe and nationwide coverage at many independent shops.
My friend installs Jaspers and loves them. They pay for your time as a mechanic if there is a defect. I never bought one new, but plenty of vehicles with Jaspers in them to replace the motor or the trans.
I’ve seen all kinds, jasper is one of the better ones, but I’ve seen bad engines from them too. Honestly, the only remans I’ve never had an issue with are fords. Keep in mind though my experience is mostly with chevy 350’s, I despise them, never had one make it past 100k.
Do they sell engines to the home installer or only installed? My engine is already on the ground. Was planning on a junkyard motor but a reman is possible for the right price. Thanks.
Yeah, there have been a couple of times there has been a problem. But any engine, new or rebuilt can have a problem. What I like about jasper is they do their best to take care of it. I've had trouble with other rebuilders finding odd ball reasons to deny the warranty. Never delt with a Ford rebuild.
