I have a 90' Bronco with E40D, 351. Sometimes my trans works perfect. Other times it will not shift into second on its own. (It will always shift if I do it manual) The other problem is sometimes it will go into neutral when it should shift to third. This only happens when going from second to third. (not from OD to third)

I end up accelerating in drive, realize it wont go to second, shift from drive to second, then when its about time to go to third, I shift to drive. Sometimes it goes to third, others it goes to neutral. If it goes to neutral, I shift back to second and then back to drive. After a couple times, it goes to third. No issues as long as I stay in third and OD. But if I go slow enough to down shift to second, it may go into neutral again when it tries to up shift to third.

I changed the filter and fluid twice. The second time, I changed the fluid in the T/C also. The flued smelled fine, but may be a little dark.

I've had two issues with fluid recently. 1. My trans cooler line got a leak and the fluid got very low. 2. the T/C got a leak (at the trans seal) and the fluid got very low. I replaced the cooler line and put trans stop leak in. I didn't think the stop leak would fix it, but it did! The shift problems started before both of these leaks.
