Left side front end hum
02' F350 DRW 4WD, lock-in hubs. Just had new tires, shocks and differential fluid changed in front end. Now when I go down the highway I sometimes get a loud humming sound coming out of the left side. It comes and goes, sometimes it lasts for a 1000' and sometimes a half mile. It doesn't do it at all at low speeds. It's not a bearing cause there is no play in the wheel when lifted off the ground, and spins fine. It sounds as if something is trying to engage. No wheel pull, just a loud humming, like running over speed bumps before tollgate. Thanks for any help.

The very first thing I would do is try dropping the truck into neutral when it is happening. My truck makes a funny sound from the front left at highway speeds, so much so that I thought it was the bearing. In fact from inside the cab, it sounded like a bearing. But when I put it into neutral, the sound went away. I suspect it might be related to my 6637 air filter in my case.
