help please

Currently I am rebuilding a 1970 f100 styleside pickup shortwheel base. I have given up on finding a styleside bed for this truck. My question is how much difference is there between the 1950's and 1970's model flareside and will the 50's match up for this 1970 truck. Any information is helpful.

I see that NPD lists stepside fenders and the quarter panels (inside of the bed walls) from 53-72 as there is no other part number they list for any year in between. So I am sure that your not going to have a problem using a bed from the previous years. Make sure that you measure your current bed and ensure that the one you end up getting is within the same measurements.

Keep in mind that NPD does list the pickup box front as being 65-72 for a 115 inch wheel base. And 67-72 for 131 and 135 inch wheel bases.

They also list the tail gate as being 61-72 only.

Hope this helps!!

BTW welcome to FTE!

Thanks alot! That is what I though but I wasn't sure. I knew about the 115 and the 130inch wheel base. I am lucky to have the 115 inch wheelbase. Hopefully I will get this truck back together and get some pictures of it on teh net. Again thanks a lot.

Welcome to (FTE)!

Keep in mind 50s fenders are longer at the front, I have seen them used, by
moving them up on the bed sides, where the running board area hits where
the steps are mounted, but this requires filling the fender mounting holes, and
redrilling fender holes higher on the bedsides!

They also list the tail gate as being 61-72 only. Incorrect, prolly a typo.
1957/72 Flaresides.

The same fenders and tailgate (2 types) were used 1957/72.

B7C-16312-A .. R/R Fender & B7C-16313-A .. L/R Fender.

B7C-8340700-A .. Tailgate ~ F100 w/ 114" or 115" Wheelbase.

B7D-8340700-A .. Tailgate ~ F100/250 w/ 120" / 128" / 129" / 131" Wheelbase & 1967/72 F250/350's w/ 135" Wheelbase.

Ford in 1957 replaced the fenders/tailgate used 1953/56 with the parts listed above for use as service part replacements.

Originally 1953/56 F100's used: BAAA-16312-A & BAAA-16313-A R/L rear fenders and the BAAA-8140700-A tailgate.

Thanks for the correction Bill! You know how the aftermarket doesnt list parts correctly for all years.

I knew the Numberdummy would post up some good correct Ford numbers!
