Question Guages help

My truck came with a complete Banks package when I bought it. I have since removed all the Banks crap except for the intercooler and the gauges. It has a boost, pyrometer, and tranny temp. The pyrometer sensor is post turbo at the downpipe bend. From what I have read this should be located in the driver's side exhaust manifold instead. Can I just move it there or is it calibrated for post turbo? Is there a problem with removing the exhaust manifold to drill the hole? I've read where people drill it while it is still attached to the motor (seems like more work). Should I buy a new sensor? Can you buy just the sensor?

The tranny temp sensor was spliced into the line going to the cooler. Is this normally how it's done? I'm not sure if it's working or not since the gauge never moves but it might be just because I don't drive it long enough? Just short trips into town. How do I test the sender or the gauge?

I know there are gauges that are way better than the Banks gauges but I don't want to replace them all only the components that are not working. They are all about 10 years old.

You can just move the probe for the pyro. it will read just fine. If the Banks gauge has green, yellow and red ranges for temps that may not be accurate for what is good or bad but the gauge will read just fine. Drill and tap the manifold on the truck. much easier than breaking manifold bolts and getting the manifold to reseal.

For the tranny temp usually they are placed in the test port on the driverside of the trans just above the pan. there will be a pipe plug with 1/8 pipe thread. that is where most people put them in.

The tranny guage is the only one that has green, yellow, and red ranges but it also lists the temperature. Here is a photo of the tranny, boost, and pryo.

your good to go. just move the pyro and maybe the trans temp sensor and see what you get.
